Illuna is one of the main characters and protagonists in Magium.
Appearance[]
In her spirit form, Illuna appears as an elf with blue eyes and blue hair.[1] In her physical form, currently she shares the same body as Flower but with shining bright blue eyes and usually a cold expression.
Personality[]
She is a very serious, cold and grumpy person. As a spirit, she doesn't understand the human concept of 'small talk' and considers it a waste of time.[2] She doesn't easily trust strangers, but will display kindness towards the people she does trust. Illuna often has trouble expressing emotions and understanding those of others. For example, she fails to recognize that Flower feels like a burden to her for being childish. Once she does realize; however, Illuna goes out of her way to celebrate Flower's birthday and recognize her as a thirty-year-old.[3]
History[]
A few hundred years ago, she, along with two other young banshees, Sidara and Unuri, were learning under Arraka in animal bodies for some years. Later, unknowingly led by Arraka into the sacred wood, they ended up fighting many guardians of the forest. Overwhelmed, they kept begging Arraka to save them, to which she only laughed at. But after seeing Sidara and Unuri getting impaled, Illuna finally realized and decided to exterminate every single one of those guardians, leaving no survivors which caused this event to be called sacred wood massacre.[4]
Twenty years ago, she attempted to possess Flower's body as a host, but was surprised when she found her mind inhabited. Flower, eager to have company as an ethereal in her mind, allowed Illuna to stay, leading to their fusion in her body. Because of their altered aura, the spell forbidding Arraka from possessing humanoid hosts no longer applied to them, and they were forced to act as her jailers after she was imprisoned in an amulet by a rouge group of lessathi. The three of them have been travelling together ever since.[2]
Abilities[]
Water Magic[]
Illuna can create and manipulate large amounts of water to defend and attack against enemies. She often uses her water to create sharp whips of water that she uses to lash at her foes.[5] Due to the low viscosity of water, the whips that she creates are quite agile and can easily cut through armor.[4] It can also be used for mobility, as she is seen several times using jets of water to propel herself into the air.[5] However, unlike the Food Conjuration Spell, the water she creates is considered magical and will disappear after being consumed, as it disappears automatically after a while.
Healing Magic/White Magic[]
Illuna know a bit of healing magic and can heal light wounds completely.[5] When in use, her magic appears as a white, warm, soothing light that envelopes the injury. She is capable of casting protection spells on others, but they have drawbacks. For example, her dizziness protection spell has a side effect of increased vulnerability to suggestion magic when cast on others.[6]
Others[]
- Food Conjuration Spell: a complex spell learned from Flower, who had previously learned it from Eleya. It allows the user to summon a meal of their choice, and appears to be able to summon a vast amount of dishes, ranging from basic meats to cheese cakes.[4] Illuna is less adept at it than Flower, so it requires a large amount of concentration.
- Teleportation Spell: A basic teleportation spell that can only be used once per day, with limited range only to known locations, and carry only one other person.[4]
- Golden Cage Spell: a complex, once per day[4] spell that can only be used by beings that originate from the magical plane. Illuna learned it from Arraka. Upon activation, the spell can summon a rectangular golden cages that is practically indestructible by physical means, and spells cannot pass through it,[7] but it is very vulnerable to aura manipulation technique.[8] The caster can teleport out of the cage.[9]
- Sleep Spell: A powerful spell that, upon contact, knocks the foe unconscious. The effect of the spell takes a few seconds to activate.[6]
