Leila is a main character and protagonist in Magium.

Appearance[]

Leila is a frail looking girl with silver hair. She is at least one head shorter than Barry. Back when she was participating in the Arena, she wore a simple beige blouse, short leggings that seem comfortable to move in, and wooden sandals.[1] However, after that she wears other clothes that was bought together with Kate.[2] She also wears two knives on her belt as weapons.

Personality[]

Leila is cool-headed and tends to not be heavily affected by emotions. She doesn't hesitate to tell others about her problems, as seen from how she divulges her past to Barry only hours after their meeting[1], and is the only one in the group to reveal her memories from Selkram's time trial.[3] In battle, Leila is quick to act and often rushes in without backup. She doesn't wait for Velgos to attack before slicing his head off[4] and springs into action immediately after being freed from the captain of the Ollendor royal guard's aura manipulation.[5] She is used to operating independently and rarely asks for help in a fight.[6]

History[]

Leila was born mute to Lessathi parents that consider themselves part of a pure race, free from defects. Leila's birth father resented her for killing her mother in childbirth and leaving him to care for a defective child that he believes isn't even his own, but rather, a half-human hybrid. When the Beacon of Hope requested children to take in as potential experiments, Leila's father didn't think twice before abandoning her. Leila grew up in the Beacon, and was an outcast even from the other children, living separate from them for being a Lessathi. The experiments she underwent there changed her hair color from black to silver.[1]

When she was 8, she escaped the Beacon with Reidzek, who she considers her adopted father. They lived as runaways in the outskirts of civilization using Reidzek's suggestion device that kept others away from their makeshift home. Reidzek also modified a stat device for Leila so that her thoughts would appear as floating, blue written text. After Meredith was announced as the new leader of the Lessathi and prohibited the hunting of outcasts, the two of them moved into Thilias in hopes of starting a new life. Unfortunately, the city's Lessathi forged debt documents to their landlord, and Reidzek was sent into enslavement for a noble in Thilias. Leila managed to escape. Around the start of the tournament, she gained enough stat points to free her father, but was thrown into the arenas as punishment. She plans to legally survive the arenas to join her father in Ollendor.[1]

Abilities[]

Lessathi's Perks[]

As a Lessathi, Leila has a partial resistance to paralysis and electricity along with immunity to sleep spells. Leila is unable to use magic at all due to complete lack of magic in her aura, just like any other Lessathi aura.

Stat device[]

Leila's abilities and agile fighting style are complemented by her points in her stat device. When Barry meets her, she has 3/3 points in speed, strength, and combat technique.[1] Later, she has an additional 3/3 in toughness[7] and reflexes[8]. She specializes in close combat using two daggers.

Other[]

  • Aura massage technique: can induce or lessen nausea by pressing pressure points[9]
  • Leila is adept at reading auras, even for a lessathi[3]
