The Southern Continent is named for its cardinal location. This name was termed after the four continents discovered each other's existences. Their previous, separate names were discarded in favor of convenience.[1]
The south has a landscape marked by hot temperatures, deserts, and caves. There are scattered remote villages.[2][3]

The sage of the south is 'Drakesbane', known only by an alias referencing his status as a dragon hunter. He won the title from Nolderon fourteen years ago.[4]
